Drum Roll Please......
Well...I finally got to see what the passing letter looks like....if you can believe it, after an overwhelming 4 failing attempts, the bar bitch passed on try number 5....after all the grief and self-doubt, the moment is finally here....am I excited? Don't know yet, I'm still numb...hoping they don't send a letter saying it was a mistake....

In an extremely ironic twist of fate.....I accepted an awesome job for a national title company two weeks ago....only problem is that I uh...downplayed my legal education, (uh yeah, I'm not proud of it, but the job was fantastic and I got freakin sick of hearing how "overqualified" I was b/c of the law degree...) so now, if I want to keep this fabulous job in VA....where they are all psyched for me to take the VA Bar, to the tune of paying for the bad boy....I can't even mention that I'm officially a NC lawyer...oh the tangled web we weave...

While I am thrilled, I'm still feeling strangely angry....I still feel disgusted over the whole process....after the amazing amount of time I've devoted to this endeavor, I can honestly say I think there is absolutely something going on that is highly questionable with the NC Bar, (in fairness this last test is the worst set of essays I've ever put out, bar none... I know that for certain, I have no idea who the hell is grading these things, and what they are using a standard, but I think its whacked)....

I'm hoping that all of you got the news you were hoping for....retakers especially.....

Congratulations, BarBitch!!!! I've been reading this forever and rooting for you. I agree that something is wrong with the system (across the board) but all you can do now is play ball and hope for the best. Good luck. Keep us updated on what happens.

Good for you for passing..Congrats! I was wondering if you had or not. You and I have chatted before (i'm one of the 4 time takers of the nc bar)...unfortunately, i didn't pass. the whole process is the most screwed up thing...the grading, etc. Now, I've decided I'm going to move on and try something else for a while that is not legal. I'm burned out studying and can't even think of taking it 5 times in a row. I can understand your anger as well...the whole examination process truly is a bitch. i am very angry and very sad at the time i've wasted studying for this thing. anyways, good luck on the va bar. good luck with your new job too. you've worked hard, you deserve it! Take care!

Congratulations! I was a first time bar taker, but found your blog via Google in January and followed it up until the big day. My resuts were posted yesterday, and I wanted to see how you did. I'm glad you got good news!

Well, I can only say congratulations. I know you are feeling a little numb right now, but it will pass. I don't think that you being licensed in NC should affect your job in NC. Just put your your NC license on inactive status (you can always revert to active status if you ever move back to NC as long as you pay your inactive dues) and take Virginia. You are on a roll now.

CONGRATS TO YOU!!! I know it has been a harrowing process for you, and you aren't jumping up and down in joy (yet) but it's got to be a relief nonetheless. It's done, it's over - enjoy your "success" and leave the rest of the bs behind. VA results don't come out till May 1 (ACK!) so I'm still waiting - and not very patiently might I add. March was fine - but this month I've been going nuts - crazy dreams, negative thoughts, etc. Keep your fingers crossed for me...and congrats again!

    I'm retaking in July.

Hi. I just found your blog after googling "people who have had to take the bar more than once." Congrats on passing! I just found out I failed for the second time and am now more depressed than I initially thought. Any tips on how to keep up a positive attitude as I start this b-s process . . . AGAIN!?

I am so happy to have found this site! Congrats on your showing the bar exam who is boss!! I just failed for the second time. At first, I didn't think it was as bad as the first time, but this time, the depression has been steadily sneaking in. The thing that worries me most is that my job depends on me passing this time. Any tips for getting having a positive attitude as I start this hellish process all over again? Thanks for your site and congrats again!!!

You deserve to have someone adding their congratulations here, so allow me to be the first to do so: CONGRATULATIONS, and you should be proud of the "stick-to-it-iveness" you have shown throughout this whole ordeal. It will serve you well in life, on more important things than this exam. It takes a lot of fortitude to keep on trying in the face of failure. Not everyone can do it.

Do you know what the conversion from raw score to scaled score was on the feb. 2007 exam?

Congratulations on being in the 34% that passed! That sure was a short list. I'm headed for test #3 in July. Hopefully I'll see what that passing letter looks like in Aug/Sept. '07. Did you do anything different this time? Have you heard reviews on micromash?

Congratulations!! I have been following your blog since July 06 and I'm so happy for you...I can't wait until that day comes for me!

Now, you can have the satisfaction of knowing that you beat this thing. Everything else seems to pale in comparison.

Does it look like the MBE was scaled a lot? ;) We CA takers are still chewing our nails in anticipation...

Thank you. Thank you so very much for your blog, for writing of your experiences and feelings and giving so much to others out here. I will be taking the July 2007 bar - first time - after having planned for last summer, then being painfully derailed mid-BarBri by an F in a 5-credit hour 3rd year required course. Aimed for the February bar, but knew I was not prepared (while repeating above-mentioned course) and bailed without ever sitting. NOT taking in February felt even worse than the F. Hopefully, this summer will be a one-time event, but if it is not - just want you to know how much your writing means to people in the incredible turmoil of self-doubt. Congratulations and best wishes to you! NOTE: Since the comments are moderated, it would be fine with me for you to not let this one post - just wanted to tell you thanks (and yeah, the sting of repeating the most painful class here is still with me - not many schools take pride in flunking their 3rds years)

    Many congratulations!!!!

BTW, there's something funky with your site...this post disappears if you click anywhere on the page, and I've had trouble posting this comment before. Just in case you were wondering about not receiving as many comments as usual lately....

Congratulations, BB! I have visited your site every now and then since the july 2006 bar. It was good to know that someone else understood the struggle. Relish this achievement, don't look back on the struggle- it has made you stronger. I missed the july 2006 NY bar by 4 points, and I am currently waiting for my Feb 2007 NY bar results. Do you know what the MBE curve looked like?

    Best!

Sigh, I'm glad someone passed somewhere. I took the February Florida bar exam for the second time and just went to the website today... failed again. I was feeling dead until I googled "failed the bar exam" and got this page. Your post for some reason got to me and here I am now bawling like a baby. Oh well, crying relieves stress and I've been stressed out over this way too much I guess. I can't even think about studying right now but I'm sure in a couple days I'll start thinking about getting back to those godawful books and questions...

Congratulations!!!!! I am glad that you had the cajones to stick with it!!!! May you be duly rewarded :)
My results for the 4th taking of the VT bar arrived on Friday, April 13. I think that was kind of a sick joke :( I did fail again, but I AM NOT going to give up. there's a rule here that after your fourth time you have to prove to the board of examiners that you have substantially improved your preparation methods before they will let you take it again. so not only have i failed 4 times, I now need permission to retake. the saga continues...

Congrats!!! I'm likewise a 5th time taker PASSER as of this weekend! I still can't believe it - I keep looking online at the pass list and having little jolts of joy run through me. Congrats to both of us!
